Where To Find Best Fish And Chips In Crawley
On my food wish list for U.K. was of course the very English fish and chips. So on a sunny afternoon I headed to the OLD PUNCH BOWL, an adorable farmhouse looking pub, on Crawley High Street with my sister.
On entering, words like ‘quaint’ and ‘old world charm’ buzzed in my head as I took in the rustic wooden interiors. I came to know that the building was originally a farmhouse dating back to the 15th century and had also been a bank around the 1950s. After a couple of gin and tonics, we ordered the fish and chips. Along with mushy peas and tartar sauce it was served on paper with it’s history and that made for an greasy but interesting read. The fish was flaky and moist (haddock I think) and the batter crisp and I loved it with the malt vinegar (oh yeah the condiments came in a little metal pail).
Just knowing that you are sitting in a centuries old building made the fish and chips taste more special.
